Excursions
In Year 4 we will have 1 excursion for the year in Semester
one to the Museum of Victoria.
We will be having an incursion which will be a CSIRO science based incursion.
Camp
Year 4 will be going on camp to Mount Morton Bush Camp in Belgrave from:
Monday September 7th - Wednesday September 9th 2009 (Term 3)
Bike ED
Year 4 participate in the Bike Ed program in the middle
part of Term 4. We anticipate a day of bike checks and then 2 days of
riding activities. This is supplemented with a Traffic Ed incursion through
the RACV and theory lessons in class.
Fitness
Along with Physical Education, the Year 4's participate
in 3/4 sport once a week. This involves all the students in 3 & 4
being mixed into different groups to participate in a different sport
each week. This program is designed to help develop the students' skill
in this sport as well as for team building as each sport is team orientated.
Each morning the Year 4's participate in our early
morning fitness program. This involves each student for the first 10 minutes
of the day completing stretches and running on the oval in order to promote
healthy practises.
Year 4 Assembly
Once a week the Year 4's try to get together in the library
to borrow and are also involved in other activities such as singing/performances.
We try to have a general discussion about the week's activities as well
as preparing for the week ahead. This is an important initiative undertaken
to promote social interaction within the year level to allow students
to not only get to know their peers but all of the Year 4 teachers.
Premiers Reading Challenge
Many of our students have taken up the challenge to complete
the Premiers' Reading Challenge. The Challenge aims to promote a love
of reading. It is not a competition, but a challenge to each student.
Those who complete the challenge like the previous years will have the
opportunity to have their names printed in the paper and receive a certificate
of completion.
See http://www.education.vic.gov.au/prc/ for more information.
Tables Parents
During second term we will be asking for parents to come
along at convenient times to help our students practise their tables.
Speed and accuracy with all the tables and number facts are our goal.
