The ‘Come Play With Us Fete 2012’ is proudly raising funds to contribute to phase three of a major project being undertaken by our school community—to build a nature based playground or Playscape for our students to discover, imagine, create and learn. We hope it may even support some broader social initiatives. The School Council will determine other school projects and initiatives to support with an allocation of fete proceeds.

This week I have been running around getting various fete supplies and one of my trips was to Footscray of all places. Ben came along for the ride and on the way there he asked ‘Mummy, is this a long way away?’ (no need to tell you my answer, particularly given that I got lost!). As soon as we hit Moorabbin (on our return), he said ‘Mummy, are we back on earth?’ Clearly I don’t get out of the postcode enough!
We have received a ‘Minor Gaming Permit’ for our raffle (only necessary of course because our prizes exceed $5,000!) and we are hoping to make some great money. All of the prizes have been donated (check them out, and of course the wonderful sponsors) and Avenue Press have kindly agreed to sponsor the printing of the raffle tickets - what a great saving!
So now it’s up to everyone to get on board to sell as many raffle tickets as possible from February 6 through to fete day – remember there are prizes for those who sell the most tickets (1st, 2nd and 3rd!) – but more importantly, remember that this is a simple way to make a cool $20,000 if everyone does their bit!
The prizes we can show you - the rest are vouchers!
Our Health and Wellbeing Exhibition is shaping up to be a significant part of our fete. Talking of shaping up, this week we welcome on board Contours Beaumaris (who have also donated two gym memberships) and Dr Antigone Kouris, Clinical Dietitian/Nutritionist from Total Nutrition Care, who will be bringing along her healthy reduced sugar/fat cookies for tasting – yum! Dr Kouris will also be promoting Healthy Sleep Solutions…best I get on to this! We also welcome Seaview Osteopathic Clinic - make sure you visit our exhibitors on the day for some great advice from specialists in their respective fields; you may also win yourself a prize!
Our Fabulous Fete Fingers team (and fabulous they are - pictured below!) and our Crazy Hair and Tattoos stall convenors (you will recall the very colourful photo of them in an earlier post) were thrilled to receive some great product from one of our wonderful prep parents, Katrina Lawrence, who arranged a fantastic donation from her workplace, Heat. There will be a fabulous hamper of cosmetics (also donated by Heat) for you to bid on at our Silent Auction on the day.

Cheltenham Op Shop and Family Life Opportunity Shop have kindly agreed to put aside some chipped crockery for our sideshow alley Smash-a-plate stall - more great places like the Salvos Store to take your second-hand goods once our fete has taken place! (Don’t forget to bring in any chipped crockery you may have so we have plenty to smash!).
On the note of our sideshow alley games, I was blown away by the work of one of the very talented Beaumaris East Men’s Shed representatives, Peter Ewers, who has drawn up ten of our sideshow alley games in AutoCAD (some examples below) to hand over to the team to begin construction. The Men’s Shed will be donating a considerable amount of their time to this task, for which I am truly grateful – what a wonderful asset to our community. Quin Corporation have also been very generous – they will be supplying all of the timber for these sideshow alley games, Park Road Timber & Hardware will supply the hardware and Aussie Disposals have donated the tent pegs to secure the structures on the day!

As mentioned earlier, you will have a chance to take lots of funny photos at our photobooth at the fete (kindly sponsored by The Tiara Project), but if you are looking for some truly stunning and professional family photos you better run down to the Silent Auction and put your name down for the Generations Photography package – take a look at their gorgeous work on their website.
Our bookworms will be thrilled, not only because we have some fantastic second-hand books but also because Scholastic Australia will be donating some new books for our Silent Auction. And our fashionistas will be happy that Closet Fever have donated a '20% off any purchase voucher' (valid for 6 months).

What a great team!!!
I was thinking I might have been able to achieve a shorter post this week but sorry, no such luck! When Belinda Anson, Sponsorship/Silent Auction Co-ordintor, suggested that we include a fete blog on our website to acknowledge our sponsors, I got a little carried away…I have loved having a platform to publicly acknowledge the work of so many individuals and of course to mention our fabulous sponsors. I will leave you in peace over the holidays to enjoy this special time with your beautiful families unless of course Santa makes a generous donation that I just can’t wait to tell you about! (I have been extra NICE Santa!).
But just before I go…
Thank you to all the families who given so generously to the grade donations process. A special thank you to our wonderful stall convenors and assistants and to my wonderful Fete Committee who are working hard to stage the BIGGEST and BEST fete yet (well hopefully!). In particular I would like to acknowledge the work, commitment and support of Belinda Anson who has gone beyond the call of duty. Belinda has been more than our Sponsorship/Silent Auction Co-ordinator, she has had some great ideas, been my sounding board and even my ‘second set of eyes’ – thank you Belinda!!! Thank you also of course to Mrs Duffy and the wonderful BNPS staff for their ongoing support and assistance.
Sending you the warmest of wishes for a holiday filled with love, laughter, family and friends
– Merry Christmas!
